PRACTICAL GUIDE / QC Planning Guide
Define the check before asking for an inspection report.
An inspection needs a reference, a method and an acceptance decision. Use this worksheet to connect the features you care about to the evidence you want recorded.
STEP 01
Set the approved reference
- List the product/model, order quantity and current specification/drawing revision.
- Identify the physical sample or finish reference used for visual comparison.
- Record any approved substitutions or deviations so the inspector has the correct basis.
STEP 02
Define each check
- Name the feature: a dimension, finish, function, quantity, label or packing detail.
- Agree how it will be checked and what evidence is required.
- Define the acceptance basis for that feature and who decides when a finding is outside it.
STEP 03
Agree timing and coverage
- Identify whether the check belongs at material, in-process, finished-product or packing stage.
- Agree the inspection quantity/coverage and any sampling arrangement for the specific order.
- For laboratory or performance evidence, identify the relevant document/test and responsible provider separately.
STEP 04
Close findings before release
- Record measured results or photographs against the item and check.
- Log discrepancies, corrective action and who needs to review them.
- Keep the release decision distinct from the inspection observation itself.
WORKED BRIEF EXAMPLE
Example: inspect a panel size against an approved drawing.
The plan should name the dimension, drawing revision, agreed measuring method and accepted variation. A report containing only general product photographs cannot demonstrate that a particular dimension was checked. The worksheet intentionally leaves acceptance values blank for the order-specific agreement.
